Top 10 ISO 27001 Certification Companies & Bodies in India (2026)

Quick answer

The top ISO 27001 certification companies in India fall into two groups. A consultant (such as CyberSapiens) builds your ISMS and gets you audit-ready. An accredited certification body (such as BSI India, TÜV SÜD, Bureau Veritas, DNV, TÜV India, SGS, Intertek, STQC or IRQS) runs the Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits and issues the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certificate. Most Indian companies need one of each.

Disclosure: this list is written by CyberSapiens, an ISO 27001 consultancy, and we include ourselves at number 1. Every certification body’s details were taken from its own website and checked in October 2026. We were not paid to include anyone. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it.

Search for “ISO certification agencies in India” and you will find hundreds of names: global certifiers, Indian certifiers, consultants and small agencies offering a certificate in a few days. They are not the same thing, and some certificates are worth far more than others. This guide lists the top 10 ISO 27001 certification companies in India for 2026, explains what each one does, and shows you how to check that a certificate is genuine.

ISO 27001 consultant vs certification body: what’s the difference?

ISO 27001 consultant

  • Runs the gap analysis and risk assessment
  • Writes policies, procedures and the Statement of Applicability
  • Helps put Annex A controls in place
  • Runs your internal audit and management review
  • Prepares your team for the external audit

Certification body (auditor)

  • Runs the Stage 1 (documents) and Stage 2 (evidence) audits
  • Issues the ISO 27001 certificate if you pass
  • Runs surveillance audits in years 2 and 3
  • Must be accredited by an IAF-member accreditation body
  • Cannot consult on the same ISMS it certifies

That last point matters. Under the international rules for certification bodies (ISO/IEC 17021-1), a certifier must stay impartial, so it cannot design your ISMS and then audit it. If an agency offers to “consult and certify” you in one package, ask exactly which accredited body will issue the certificate.

ISO 27001 certification requirements in India

To be certified, your organisation must meet clauses 4 to 10 of ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and apply the Annex A controls that fit your risks. In practice, the auditor will ask to see:

  • The ISMS scope – which offices, teams, systems and services are covered
  • An information security policy and objectives approved by management
  • A risk assessment and risk treatment plan
  • A Statement of Applicability covering all 93 Annex A controls
  • Evidence the controls work: access reviews, backups, training records, incident logs, supplier checks
  • An internal audit and a management review completed before Stage 2

ISO 27001 is voluntary in India, but it is the easiest way to show you meet customer and regulator expectations, such as the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, CERT-In’s 2022 cyber security directions, and sector rules from RBI, SEBI and IRDAI.

ISO 27001 certification process in India

  1. Gap analysis (1–2 weeks). Compare what you do today with ISO 27001:2022.
  2. Scope and risk assessment (2–3 weeks). Agree what is covered, then find and rate your information security risks.
  3. Build the ISMS (4–10 weeks). Write policies, put Annex A controls in place and train staff.
  4. Internal audit and management review (2 weeks). Check everything works before the certifier arrives.
  5. Stage 1 audit. The certification body reviews your documents and readiness.
  6. Stage 2 audit. The certification body tests evidence that the controls work. Fix any non-conformities.
  7. Certificate and surveillance. The certificate is valid for three years, with surveillance audits in years 2 and 3.

How to choose the right ISO 27001 certification company in India

  1. Decide what you need. No security team? Start with a consultant. Already running an ISMS? You may only need a certification body.
  2. Check the accreditation. Ask which accreditation body covers the certifier’s ISO 27001 work, and make sure it is an IAF member (for example NABCB in India, UKAS, RvA or EIAC). Certificates from non-accredited “agencies” are often rejected by overseas clients.
  3. Make sure it’s ISO 27001:2022. The transition period for the old 2013 version ended on 31 October 2025, so new certificates should show ISO/IEC 27001:2022.
  4. Be careful with “certificate in 7 days” offers. A real certification needs a working ISMS and two audit stages. Very fast, very cheap offers usually mean an unaccredited certificate.
  5. Get a fixed scope and quote. Ask what is included: number of sites and people, internal audit, audit-day support, and years 2–3.

How to check if a company in India is ISO 27001 certified

Whether you are checking a supplier or your own new certificate, these three checks take about five minutes:

  • Search IAF CertSearch. The International Accreditation Forum’s database (iafcertsearch.org) lists certificates issued under accredited schemes, including many Indian ISO certified companies.
  • Search the certifier’s register. BSI, DNV, TÜV and most large certification bodies have an online directory where you can enter the certificate number or company name.
  • Read the scope and version. A certificate only covers the sites and services written on it, and it should say ISO/IEC 27001:2022.

What affects ISO 27001 certification cost in India?

There is no fixed price because every ISMS is different. Your total has two parts: the consultant (if you use one) and the certification body’s audit fees for Stage 1, Stage 2 and the two surveillance years. These factors make the biggest difference:

Cost factorWhy it matters
Number of employees in scopeAudit days are set by headcount, so more people means more audit days.
Number of sitesEach office or data centre in scope may need to be visited or sampled.
Current security maturityCompanies with few controls need more consulting time and new tools.
Choice of certification bodyGlobal certifiers and Indian certifiers charge different day rates.
Extra standardsCombining ISO 27001 with SOC 2 or ISO 27701 saves effort but adds scope.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best ISO 27001 certification company in India?

There is no single best company because consultants and certification bodies do different jobs. For an end-to-end consultant, CyberSapiens is a strong option for startups and SaaS firms. For the certificate itself, choose an accredited certification body such as BSI India, TÜV SÜD, Bureau Veritas, DNV, TÜV India, SGS, Intertek, STQC or IRQS.

What is the difference between an ISO 27001 consultant and a certification body?

A consultant helps you build and run your information security management system and prepares you for the audit. A certification body is an independent, accredited auditor that runs the Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits and issues the certificate. The same company cannot do both for your ISMS.

Which accreditation should an ISO 27001 certificate have in India?

Choose a certificate from a certification body accredited by a member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), such as NABCB in India or another IAF member like UKAS, RvA or EIAC. IAF recognition means the certificate is accepted internationally and can be looked up in IAF CertSearch.

How long does it take to get ISO 27001 certified in India?

For most small and mid-sized Indian companies it takes about three to six months from gap analysis to certificate. Larger organisations, or those starting with few security controls, can take longer.

How much does ISO 27001 certification cost in India?

It depends on the number of employees and sites in scope, how ready you are, and which certification body you choose. You pay a consultant for implementation (if you use one) and a certification body for the audits over a three-year cycle.

Is ISO 27001 certification mandatory in India?

No, ISO 27001 is voluntary in India. However, many enterprise and overseas clients ask for it in contracts, and it helps show you meet the DPDP Act, 2023, CERT-In directions and sector rules from RBI, SEBI and IRDAI.

How do I check if a company in India is ISO 27001 certified?

Search the company name or certificate number in IAF CertSearch or in the issuing certification body’s online register, check that it shows ISO/IEC 27001:2022, and read the scope to make sure it covers the services you are buying.

Is an ISO 27001:2013 certificate still valid?

No. The transition period for ISO/IEC 27001:2013 ended on 31 October 2025. Current certificates should be issued against ISO/IEC 27001:2022.
